On March 25th, the President of the Institute had the pleasure and honor of attending the Annual General Meeting of the Société de développement Commercial de Côte-des-Neiges (SDC-CDN).  This was a valuable opportunity to engage with our community, build connections, and raise awareness about the Institute and music therapy.

Autism (ASD) - Series of thematic publications by the Institute

In the context of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), music therapy can support, among other objectives:
– the development of verbal and non-verbal communication
– relational engagement and social interaction
– emotional and sensory regulation

Music can be a particularly relevant medium for this population, as it offers a non-verbal form of expression and communication, helping to facilitate connection and achieve therapeutic goals.

Lancement CD - Les Impatients
Invitation: April 7th, 2026, launch of the 4th CD of the Big Bang Band (BBB)

Next April 7th, the Institute invites you to attend the launch of the Big Bang Band’s (BBB) 4th album, a musical group from Les Impatients. Produced by Dany Bouchard, music therapist and founder of the BBB, this new album features pieces composed and performed by individuals living with mental health challenges.  The organization supports them through artistic expression, including music creation workshops.

Come to experience the launch of this inspiring album with them next Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 PM, at Théâtre Sainte-Catherine.

Grief - Series of thematic publications by the Institute

In the context of grief, music therapy can offer, among other objectives:
– a space for the expression of emotions related to loss
– support to reduce isolation and foster communication
– guidance through the process of meaning-making and rebuilding.

Music can act as a medium that facilitates access to emotions and connection to memories, while providing a safe space to navigate the different stages of grief.

On March 25th 2026, it was with great pleasure that we welcomed participants to our Discovery Workshop. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore and gain a deeper understanding of music therapy, while connecting with professionals from the community, business, arts, and healthcare sectors, as well as music students.  Thank you for your trust, engagement, and enthusiasm!

Concordia students visit the Institute

Tuesday March 17th, we had the pleasure to welcome a group of students from Concordia University's Music Therapy Program. After a brief presentation about the Institute and some exchanges, they participated in a Drum Circle directed by one of our music therapists, Stephen Venkatarangam.  Thank you to their teacher, Annabelle Brault, for organizing this visit and this 1st contact with the Institute for these future music therapists.
